Takekoma Shrine

Takekoma Shrine was founded when Ono no Takamura, serving as the Governor of Mutsu Province, enshrined the deity of Fushimi Inari. It is regarded as one of Japan’s Three Great Inari Shrines and is deeply revered as a guardian of industrial development, bountiful harvests, and business prosperity. The annual Autumn Festival held each September is one of Iwanuma City’s major events, expressing gratitude to the deity for the abundant autumn harvest.

Shrine Maiden's Recommendations "Hidari-uma" & White Fox Omikuji (Lucky Charms)

The Hidari-uma (reversed horse) is a special commemorative charm crafted exclusively for the Year of the Horse. Hand-carved by master artisans in Tendo, Yamagata Prefecture (Japan’s famous chess piece capital), this unique token features the character 馬 (horse) written in mirror image to invite good fortune and prosperity. This exclusive keepsake is gifted to guests who receive a formal shrine blessing.

Our charming white fox figurines each hold a hidden paper fortune inside (”Omikuji” in Japanese). After reading your fortune, tie the slip at the shrine in the traditional way. The fox figurine is yours to take home as a decorative good luck charm. Two designs are available: a parent-and-child fox pair, and a fox holding a sacred jewel. Both are charming enough that you may find it hard to choose just one, making either (or both!) the perfect souvenir for your trip.
