Built in 1637, Zuihōden is the mausoleum of Date Masamune. This lavishly ornate structure exemplifies the architectural style of the Momoyama period and was designated a National Treasure in 1931.

It is the only site in Miyagi Prefecture selected as one of the Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan.
