Zao Okama (Crater Lake)

Okama, the symbol of Mount Zao, is a cauldron-shaped crater lake nestled among three peaks: Kattadake, Kumanodake, and Goshikidake. The lake's surface changes color depending on weather conditions, so it is also called "Goshikinuma" (Five-Color Pond).
After ascending the Zao Highline (a toll road) that branches off from the Zao Echo Line and walking about 2–3 minutes from the parking area, you will reach the observation deck, where Okama and the grand mountain scenery unfold before you. The path to the observation deck is barrier-free. At the Zao Summit Rest House, you can enjoy meals and take a break.
